Thankful

Currently my "happy place" is a very specific seat at my local library. The chair itself is perfect for me: low to the ground so my stubby legs do not dangle painfully and with a roomy, well padded cushion. This is a chair where one can "plotz" for hours. And I most assuredly do. The view is spectacular for our tiny community. Ceiling to almost floor length windows with no blinds or curtains of any kind. Great light even on the greyest of days. A four season show of the hillside next door. Yesterday it was an icicle performance. Massive structures dripping from the eaves, sparkling and occasionally crashing. The second reason I favor this particular chair is its proximity to the magazine section where I discovered my new favorite periodical. Belle Armoire. Artisan clothing, handbags, jewelry, and costumes. All handcrafted and absolutely dazzling. Even the items that do not "speak" to me are worthy of note for the creativity of the artists. An afternoon of quiet window contemplation and Belle browzing always leaves me relaxed and inspired. I crocheted these three scarves after reading an article about natural images as sources for textile art. It "spoke" to me. I gave the scarves as Christmas gifts to my three most precious ladies. So, today I am grateful. For my library and its welcoming furniture. For the miracle of my children. For an unlikely periodical pleasure. Thanks to all. Think of Haiti.

  1. Gorgeous scarves, Deb. And that's a great phrase - "icicle performance."
