This is my bed here at Casa Mommy Dearest on a very good day. I love those pillows. I made every single one of them. Well, actually, Angry Sister sewed the two bolsters in back because I don't have a machine and she liked me back then. I found some vintage tea towels online and I knew they would work perfectly as a kind of headboard. The two grey pillows I sewed by hand. That fabric is material from some old sweatpants turned inside out. These pillows are incredibly soft. The plaid one has a terrific blue fringe, which you can't really see, and was crafted from my last flannel pillowcase. This is my "go to" cushion for reading in bed. The dark red littlest pillow is also the squishiest; it has a more expensive insert. I bought this fabric and fringe with a gift card I received as a Christmas gift from a Nazi Nun who used to be my boss for a very brief time. The final pillow is really two red bandanas sewn together. I paid $1.00 for both of them and I think this one is almost too pretty to use. I can still feel the crispness of the store bought sizing in it and I like that. These pillows bring me great joy.
"There is no joy in Mudville." "Why does love always feel like a battlefield?" "I am wondering where the lions are." On days like that I look at these pillows, curl up in a fetal ball, remember better times, and dream of a better future. Right now, that is how I find my joy. Right now that is the best I can do.
I'll tell about the needlepoint and that remarkable feather lampshade another time.
