This photo doesn't do her justice. (Currently all her other baby pictures, the ones I haven't already given to her that is, are stored in Angry Sister's basement.) Still, this is one of my favorites of my Darling Middle Daughter. She and her older sister loved those hats, and it was a splurge to purchase them for no other good reason. They looked adorable and they HAD to have them. So glad we did! It was hot the day I took this picture and the girls were standing in the backyard of our apartment that isn't there anymore, in front of a giant, overgrown lilac bush. I thought I was so happy.
Here she is a senior in high school. Check out that "I Want to be a Chica" black eye liner. And, yes, that spectacular hair is natural. Can you believe this stunning young woman does not think of herself as beautiful?
She thinks of her nose as unattractive. Can you see any flaw?
This is a girl with natural beauty that anyone with eyes can see. Her inner spirit is more admirable still. She is loyal beyond measure: she is fastidiously responsible with money; she has a kind empathetic strength that I have never encountered in another human: and she has a finely honed sense of the ridiculous. (In our family that in and of itself is quite an accomplishment. The Stand Up Comedy Gene is not recessive!) She has written music. Ask any of my girls to sing "What Would You Look Like With Black Hair?" I thought I was so happy.
In six days she will be married. Her wedding will be outdoors in a verdantly green setting. She will be surrounded by friends, and family (even the babies) she loves and who love her in return. She, and her betrothed, are sticking to their guns and doing it their way. I am so proud of both of them. I am so happy for both of them. I wish I was very wealthy and could afford to do more for them. I am really looking forward to their special day. My heart is very full. I KNOW how happy I am.
She's not crazy about having her picture taken. Until all the fancy schmancy ceremony photos are processed, here's one to tide us all over.
Bet you thought it was gonna be one of the centerpieces, right? NOT!!!!!
Happy Wedding Day to Megan and Justin! Cannot Wait!!
Yes! Me too!
