I exercised my most frugal bits a week ago and deconstructed a jillion old cassette tapes. I had intended to attempt another "plarn" project. I need a new wallet and I thought this would be the perfect material: light, shiny, and virtually indestructible. Wrong-Oh! Impossible to crochet. Slippery and twisty and did not slide well on the hook. Kept my cool. Thought good thoughts. Aha! Says I! Combine it with something else. But what?
This is what I came up with. A combo of old tape and jute. The tape looked like melted chocolate, which I really liked, but it was still incredibly difficult to work. Forget wallet idea, too big and I knew I don't have the patience for a project I don't like working. Try a coin purse. I even have the coolest leather covered button. But I just couldn't take it. This felt bad in my hands and the tape made little paper cuts on my fingers.
So, this is the project that wasn't. I unravelled and saved the jute. I also saved the "plarn" ball. Like Tom Hanks in Castaway I may find a use for it yet. That is all.
