A minor tribute here. These authors filled my childhood with stories. They weren't feminist writers by any means; but even then I knew how special being a published female author was. And I could check out all their books from the SGS library without raising any BVM eyebrows. And in this fear filled summer they have once again gifted me with tales. No flashlight under the blankets (although I never really did that), but much late night reading by the light of parking lot lights. Can you name their books?

Finally able to comment - for some reason on our regular computer I get caught into an endless round of signing in and word verification, but cannot actually post a comment.

At any rate, I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading childrens' lit. It turns out that we read entirely different things, though. I was ignorant of the Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, and Beanie Malone. I was a huge fan of Ramona Quimby, the Five Little Peppers, and a strange series from the thirties that began with "Maida's Little Shop." Also Enid Blyton books.
At any rate, childrens' lit is true literature, and good for adults also!
