Woke up early today with all these great intentions to finish my Substance Abuse post (I hate ethical dilemma type questions.) and work on my Counseling project for EDM class, when I realized that, yes, it was in fact the freaking 12th of November. After weeks of waiting I had an actual appointment for blood work. Yippee! They can tell me in another two weeks, that I am not diabetic, have moderately polluted, lipid laden blood, and should be taking a thyroid supplement. Waited in a roomful of very patient parents and their irritable, coughing children for almost two hours. I had forgotten the doctor's office routine and neglected to bring a book.
But, HEY, NOW! Good thing Numero Uno: The technician who drew my blood was incredible. Tall, incredibly lovely twisty hair, and the warmest hands ever! But the bestest of the best: SHE GOT THE BLOOD IN ONE STICK! I asked her if there was a form I could fill out to sing her praises to the higher ups. She laughed, said, "No, but there should be." So when I got back I emailed the head of the department anyway. Good deeds should be rewarded, yes? Her name is Star and if you ever need blood drained out of your arm she is the go to girl!!!
Good Thing Numero Dos:
Many years ago the ex, and our two then little girls took a trip to the Great White North to visit our eldest child who had already flown the parental coop. It was one of my favorite trips ever. We bought her a bunch of Ikea furniture, when thrift shopping, visited a Penzey's (fantastic spice shop!), ate sushi for the first time, and made an excursion to the Spam Museum. Yes, there IS such a place; I have the logo coffee mug to prove it. AND on that same journey I purchased two of the most glorious and expensive skeins of artisan yarns I have ever owned.
Last night, again procrastinating the above mentioned school work, I whipped up this headband. Not for sale, just for myself. It's the last of the brown cashmere silk wool, the black acrylic left over from the Mondo Tribute Headbands, and some bronzy looking rings I found down in the basement. I love it already.
