Just Like Potato Chips

Remember these?
Maple tree seed pods.
Here at Casa Mommy Dearest they are everywhere.
They fall from and are blown off all the maple trees in the area.
As kids we called them "helicopters" and tossed them in the air and watched them spiral down.
Adults aren't so crazy about them.  So, if it rains again tonight, they will probably be gone by morning.
They might be gone already.  I think I hear a broom.

Anyway.
I think they look cool.
And in keeping with this impaired mobility theme I started the other day, I wanted to mention that when I step on them they sound just like crunching potato chips.  Not the expensive, kettle fried ripple, kind.  The really bad for you, greasy, paper thin kind.
And like those yummy forbidden treats, they will soon be gone.  Here anyway.

  1. Helicopters! Haven't seen or thought of them in a long time, but they were certainly part of growing up in the Midwest. The top photo is great, as is the comparison to potato chips!
